Thoughts in the Dark (CroTuna)

Soft whispers. Gentle touches, caresses, kisses along his neck, his shoulder. Arms slipping around his waist, pulling him close, holding him tightly against a broad chest. All disappeared with a flick of his eyelids, bringing him back to the quiet room, quiet except for his breathing on the other side of the bed, his back turned to him as he slept.
Mituna sighed, a soft sound in the silence of their bedroom. He could daydream all he wanted of the way he wished things would be, but that wouldn't change how he felt. After all the time they'd spent together, after every lonely night, every empty phrase fallen from those lips, he knew that he would never get Cronus Ampora to love him. He wished he'd seen it sooner, seen that he never held him unless he asked (and even then he might refuse), never spoke those words unless he said them first, and never looked him in the eye when he did. But even now, knowing this, he still wished to hear it, wished to hear some form of assurance that maybe his assumptions were false, maybe he was just afraid, frightened that he might leave,  frightened that he might only be humoring his affections. Frightened that maybe, just maybe, he really was alone.
Cronus shifted, causing the bed to creak, grunting. "Tuna, why aren't you asleep?"
"...Can't sleep."
"And why not?" he asked, sounding gruff. Annoyed.
"Thinking."
A soft sigh, and Cronus turned, facing him, his arms slipping around his waist, his lips pressing a feather-light kiss to his shoulder. He pulled him snug against his chest, his nose pressed to the back of his neck.
"You think too much. Go to sleep."
